This vfx video tutorial shows you how to create a very easy but powerful background and good looking which is being enhanced by a distortion effect in Gamemaker Studio.

The idea is simple: You take a repeating background image, stick it in the background and move it slightly horizontally/vertically. Because that looks a bit rugged we apply a fx layer with an distortion effect which gives the background a smooth distorted look. Just play around with the amount and scale values of the distort effect to get the result you want. That’s it!
