Lost Ruins – Waifus + Dark souls?
Tldr: Lost Ruins is a classical 2D metroidvania video game with some japanese flavour mixed in the bunch. Developed by Altari Games with the Publisher Dangen Entertainment Japan. The game was released in 13th May.
Would I recommend the game?
Yes, but expect a standard well made video game with some cool looking art. Melee combat was in my access version too clunky/punishing because of slow rolling and slow overall attack speed.
What you will like
– graphics, visual effects look good
– items that gives passives to customize playstyle
– boss fights look reallly good, they are quite unique
– multiple endings ( I played and beat the final boss and enjoyed it)
Bad:
– can’t be played skill based (dodge roll and fast melee)
– rolling is ultra slow, no idea who said this would be a good idea but rolling will most get you killed in this game
– melee is functional but terrible, your attack speed is sloooow (animation locked!) and enemies are fast. This should be the other way around
– broken magic combat, once you can use the homing and hp leech spells you are bascially in god mode
– boss fights are joke with magic but very unfair when melee fighting

Dangen Entertainment has some very good indie titles under it’s belt
I already covered Momodora and Batbarian, noteworthy to check out are also Iconoclasts (execellent game) or Timesspinner (very good also) or Cross Code (if you like Secret of Mana meets hard puzzels this is for you!)
