The second (advanced) part of this video goes into detail how to manipulate the values from the layer’s internal parameters. This is meant to give advanced users to have an insight on how to apply the vfx filters and effects during runtime to create diverse effects. So if you have any question towards how to get and set specific values of the vfx layers effects, consider this to be a guideline.
